How does the commission split actually work?
85% to you from your first transaction. Real keeps 15% until your cumulative split payments hit $12,000 in your anniversary year — that's your cap. After capping, you keep 100% and pay a $285 post-cap transaction fee (or 15% of commission, whichever is less). Elite Agents pay $129 post-cap. No monthly fees, no desk fees, no franchise royalties — ever.
How does Real compare to eXp Realty?
Both are cloud-based, publicly traded brokerages with revenue share and stock. Real's split is 85/15 vs. eXp's 80/20. Real's cap is $12,000 vs. eXp's $16,000 — meaning Real agents cap $4,000 sooner every year. Real has no monthly fees; eXp charges ~$85/month. Real's Tier 1 revenue share is 5% vs. eXp's 3.5%.
How does Real compare to Keller Williams?
KW operates on a 64/30/6 structure with caps typically $18K–$25K+ and ~$85/month in tech fees. KW's profit share depends on local market center profitability, which varies. Real offers 85/15 split, $12K flat cap, zero monthly fees, zero royalties, true brokerage-level revenue share, and public stock. The financial difference for a productive agent is typically $5,000–$13,000 per year.
What does it actually cost to join?
One-time sign-up fee: $249. Annual brokerage fee: $750, collected $250 from each of your first three transactions. Monthly fees: $0. Pre-cap transaction fee: $40 CBR. Post-cap transaction fee: $285 (or $129 for Elite Agents). That's the complete cost structure — no surprises.
Is Real financially stable?
Real posted $2.0B in FY 2025 revenue (+56% YoY), carries no long-term debt, holds $49.9M in cash, and achieved its first profitable quarter in Q2 2025. Ranked #5 nationally by both volume and transaction sides (RealTrends 2026) and #100 on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 for 939% revenue growth over three years. The April 2026 RE/MAX acquisition for $550M further validates the company's institutional standing.
Can I keep my own brand at Real?
Yes. Real's Private Label program lets you operate under your own brand while using Real's infrastructure, tech, and compliance support. Many established team leaders and former independent brokerages have joined Real specifically for this option.
How does Real Retirement work?
After 3 years at Real with an active license, you can retire and continue receiving monthly revenue share payments — for life. After 5 years, you can designate a beneficiary to inherit up to 100% of that income. No traditional brokerage offers anything comparable.
What happened with the RE/MAX acquisition?
In April 2026, Real Broker announced the acquisition of RE/MAX for $550 million ($880M including debt). The combined entity will be called Real Remax Group, led by Real CEO Tamir Poleg. Both brands will operate independently. For current Real agents, this represents expanded resources and institutional scale while preserving the agent-first model.
What agents say after making the switch.
Real names. Real results.
I did the math before I made the move and the numbers were impossible to ignore. Between the lower cap, no monthly fees, and the stock awards, I knew I was leaving serious money on the table every year I stayed at my old brokerage.
Coming from a traditional brokerage, I wasn't sure what to expect from a cloud model. What surprised me most was how supported I felt from day one — Real Academy, the community, the technology. I haven't looked back once.
The revenue share opportunity is what initially caught my attention, but it's the overall model that kept me. I'm keeping more of every commission, building equity in a publicly traded company, and creating income streams I never had before.
As someone who was hesitant to leave the security of a recognizable brand, joining Real was a leap of faith. It turned out to be the best business decision I've made in my real estate career.
